About the role
The Investment Associate will join the team in New York, supporting investment activity across the firm's energy portfolio. This seat will initially focus on the firm's upstream portfolio and strategy, working closely with adjacent investment teams across the wider platform. Working alongside senior team members across coverage and execution, the Associate will help analyze new investment opportunities, evaluate the economics of existing assets, and support portfolio management.
This is a seat for someone with foundational energy experience who wants direct exposure to the full lifecycle of energy investing, from asset-level analysis through transaction execution and value creation.
Key responsibilities
- Support senior team members in identifying, screening, and reviewing potential investments
- Build, maintain, and refine detailed financial and asset-level models, including well economics, type curves, development scenarios, and full-cycle returns
- Conduct commercial, market, and technical due diligence
- Monitor portfolio assets through development, identifying value-creation opportunities through organic development, M&A, A&D, and other strategic alternatives
- Prepare investment memoranda, presentations, and analyses for the investment committee and limited partners
- Contribute to ongoing market and sector research
Skills and experience
- Undergraduate degree from a competitive university with a strong academic record
- 2 to 4 years of relevant experience, typically in energy investment banking with E&P or A&D coverage, energy-focused private equity, or a corporate development or finance role at an energy operator
- Strong financial modeling skills, with comfort across asset-level and corporate valuation
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail
- Upstream oil and gas experience strongly preferred. Familiarity with reservoir, drilling, or production engineering concepts, or a technical or petroleum engineering background, is an advantage
